Welcome to Andrew's Website!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.....

I live in, and was born in Nanaimo, BC. I'm 19 years old, and currently attending Vancouver Island University. At VIU, I am currently in my first year of a Computing Science degree. I graduated from Wellington Secondary School in 2009. I also work at the pool as a lifeguard and a swim instructor, and have been swimming for almost 9 years.

I have been involved in sports for most of my life -- I was a competitive swimmer for 6 years with the Nanaimo Riptide Swim Team, and I played basketball in high school. I'm always up for playing pretty much any sport with my friends, and I'll watch almost any professional sport on TV. My favourites to watch are basketball and football. I also love to play poker, and play online often.

Some stuff maybe you didn't know.....

I have been using computers for as long as I can remember, so Computer Science just seemed like an obvious choice for me. I've been making webpages since I was in Grade 5, when I learned the basics of HTML. More recently, I've started to become more familiar with XHTML, CSS, PHP, and a little Javascript.

Through self-teaching, high school classes, and more recently, University courses, I have learned programming. I've always really enjoyed programming. It's all logical, and it really forces you to think creatively to come up with solutions for problems you may never have even thought of before!!

While I was in high school, I used to update and maintain websites for some local soccer clubs here in Nanaimo. In grade 11, I entered a website into a scholarship contest. Unfortunately, I didn't win, but it was definitely a great experience! And very recently, I made a website (which is currently under construction, but very close to completion!) for a local company, Ecovision Contracting.

My roots.....

Of course... my interest in Computing Science had to start somewhere. For me, that was video games. Since I was a young kid, I've always enjoyed playing video games, across a variety of different genres. For me, RPG games have always been my favourite, but I've played and enjoyed a variety of other games, such as FPS, Adventure, and Sports games.
